His Excellency the President, Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, Has declared, March 9th, 2018 a public holiday.

The declaration is in commemoration of the International Women’s Day which falls on Thursday, 8th March 2018 and Youth Day which falls on Monday, 12th March 2018.

As the Country joins the rest of the world to celebrate the International Women’s day on 8th March, Government wishes to appeal to members of the public to reflect on the theme of this year by helping enhance the lives of rural women through their contribution to the welfare of the marginalized in society.

The government also wishes to encourage the youth to leverage on the opportunities being created in the information, communication and technology sectors to further improve their livelihood in line with the theme for the 2018 Youth Celebrations.

Meanwhile, as the country observes the two public holidays, both public and Private institutions that offer essential services should ensure that measures are put in place to avoid any disruption.
