Girl, 13, commits suicide

A thirteen –year –old girl of Mansa has committed suicide after being upset with her father for counselling her over bad behaviour.

In another incident, Police in Mwansabombwe have pic ked up the body of a 48-year-old man which was found floating at Chintanka lagoon in Salanga village.

 In the teenage suicide case, ZANIS reports that Luapula Province Police Commissioner Webby Shula identified the girl as Chola Chama.

 Mr Shula said the 13 year-old girl of Kaole in Mansa District committed suicide by hanging herself with a neck tie.

 He said Chola of Motoka village in Chief Chimese’s Chiefdom was found dead and her body hanging under a mango tree.

Mr Shula said this happened after Chama was counselled by her father and grandmother to desist from her bad behaviour of standing in the streets with boys.

Mr. Shula said the girl got upset with her father and left the house on 18 April, 2015 around 16:00 hours and her body was later discovered by her elder sister the following day on the 17th.

In another incident, Police in Mwansabombwe have picked the body of a 48- year- old man which was found floating at Chintanka lagoon in Salanga village.

Mr Shula said Kasapula Mwewa of Salanga village in Mwata Kazembe’s chiefdom was found dead and his body had bites suspected to be of crocodiles as they place used to be infested with crocodiles in the past.

He said the body was found in a decomposed state and was immediately buried.

Mr Shula said the family was advised to mark the grave for future reference while Police are still investigating the matter.-Zanis
