The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) has refuted claims by Forum for Democracy and Development (FFD) President Edith Nawakwi that it has deployed vicious cadres to Mansa ahead of the Parliamentary by-election in the area.

PF Campaign Manager, Nickson Chilangwa, says the FDD and other political parties contesting the by-election are merely sensing defeat in the by-election thereby resorting to making unfounded accusations.

Mr. Chilangwa, who is also Luapula province PF Chairperson, says the ruling party has not ferried any cadres from Lusaka to Mansa, stating that the cadres in the area are from Mansa and are not violent.

He says Ms Nawakwi should know by now that Luapula province is one of the strongholds for the ruling party and will easily scoop the seat.

Mr. Chilangwa has told QFM News in a telephone interview that the party has no intentions of ferrying cadres from Lusaka to Mansa because they believe in peaceful campaigns.

Mr. Chilangwa, who is also Home Affairs Deputy Minister, says political parties participating in the Mansa central parliamentary by-election are frightened with the support the PF is receiving ahead of the polls next week.
