The opposition MMD has written to Electoral Commission of Zambia Director Priscilla Isaac complaining over premature campaigns by the ruling Patriotic Front ahead of the Mansa central parliamentary by-election.

MMD Deputy National Secretary Chembe Nyangu in his letter dated 30th September cites campaigns by vice president Guy Scott who was in the area over the weekend.

Mr Nyangu says Dr Scott is hiding in doing government work to spearhead campaigns for the ruling party ahead of the by-election whose date the Commission has not yet set.

He adds that several other Ministers are in the area doing what the vice president is doing were widely covered by both the private and public media.

Mr Nyangu says the impunity with which the PF is violating the electoral Laws is unacceptable to the former ruling party.

He has implored the ECZ to prevail over the PF and its government that what they are doing in Mansa constitute electoral offences punishable by law.
