A MAN of Zani Muone and his neighbours have allegedly brutally murdered a PF official’s son whom after chasing and catching him as he was passing by his house on Wednesday around 20:00 hours claiming that he was a thief.
Freeman Chilando, 33, son of Buseko market PF chairlady Racheal Chungu, was in the company of his colleagues on their way home when a named man allegedly pursued them, accusing them of being thieves.
His colleagues fled but the man caught Chilando and beat him to pulp before breaking his legs and hands and then tied him, leaving him outside his house overnight.
Chilando is said to have initially survived the injuries he suffered from the beating until Thursday morning around 10:00 hours when he died after receiving a blow on his head. A stone used in the attack was recovered from the crime scene by police officers yesterday.
The mob’s plans to burn the body were thwarted when police intervened and took the remains to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH).
