President Hakainde Hichilema has reiterated his government’s commitment to advancing good governance, freedoms and civil liberties.
Posting on his Facebook page after a meeting with Commonwealth Secretary General, Rt. Honourable Patricia Scotland, in Glasgow today, the President said his government would deliver on human rights promises.
“Issues of good governance, freedoms and liberties are paramount to us and we assured the Commonwealth through her (Scotland) that we will work round the clock to ensure that these rights are respected not only in word but also in action, “ he wrote. “We believe in service to the people and YES, we shall deliver.”
Under the previous PF government, there was rampant violation of human rights, characterised by the silencing of dissenting voices.
