Zanaco on Sunday moved back into second place on the table after a 1-0 home win over Nkana at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka.

The bankers displaced Power Dynamos who had warmed their seat for 24 hours after drawing 1-1 at home with Konkola Blades in Kitwe.

Striker Moses Phiri fired in a free kick in the 60th minute to hand Zanaco the three points.

Phiri had been on the pitch for just under ten minutes after he came on as a substitute for Aubrey Funga.

Zanaco’s win also ended six-match winless drought against Nkana who traced their last victory over the latter prior to this weekend to November 10, 2012 when they won 3-1 away in Kitwe.

The result also left a sour taste for Nkana coach Aggrey Chiyangi who was returning to the club he coached for three years before quitting in May to take up the Nkana post.

Zanaco move two points clear of Power on 49 and 47 points respectively after 24 matches played.

The bankers are now six points behind leaders and defending champions Zesco United who have a game in hand with six matches left before the top two places for the 2015 FAZ Super League campaign are decided.
