Tanzanian national arrested for human trafficking in Mansa District


Mansa/February 12, 2015/,   zANIS……… Police in Mansa District have arrested a man of Tanzanian origin and his co-driver for human trafficking.

 


Police arrested Khalid Hashimu 27 Driver of Scania Truck and trailer Registration Number T149 APT, T669 APD and his co-driver Harun Kessy 24 after a concerned member of the public informed Police in Mansa on Sunday 8 February, 2015.

 


Police in the process had abducted a Zambian and Congolese national and were destined for Tanzania.

 


Disclosing the matter to ZANIS in Mansa in an interview  today Luapula Province Police Commissioner Malcolm Mulenga said the two Tanzanian Nationals adducted a Zambia and a Congolese national and destined for Tanzania.

 


 The Police Commissioner said those abducted are Samuel Kapaya 16 of Lubamba Village in Chief Kashiba’s Chiefdom of Mwense District in Zambia and was found in cabin in the truck, and Mumba Musonda 20 of Chisamamba Village in Chief Musonda’s chiefdom of Kasenga District in the Democratic Republic of Congo who was locked up in one of the trailers of the truck.

 


Mr. Mulenga said according to Musonda’s testimony, he was taken against his will as the Tanzanian driver asked him to go in the container to help pack the containers of cooking oil and locked up in the container in the process.

 

 


He said according to investigations conducted by Police so far, the two were being abducted to go and work in Tanzania as goat care takers.

 

 


Mr. Mulenga said the two victims are at Mansa Police Station for safety while the two Tanzanian suspects are in Police custody for human trafficking.
