Patriotic Front member Sunday Chanda says the opposition must appreciate the fact that Zambia needs to take back her respectable place in the global village of nations.

Mr. Chanda has told QFM News that for a long time, Zambia has lost its leadership role both at regional and continental levels citing that in spite of the crucial role the country played in liberating the region; it has not been able to maximize its geographical positioning in translating from a landlocked to a land-linked county.

Mr. Chanda notes that it is therefore unfortunate that opposition political parties are against President Edgar Lungu’s international trips even when they know that these are fully budgeted for.

He explains that the unfortunate thing which has happened to Zambia is an Opposition priding itself as armchair critics without interrogating the benefits to accrue from improved foreign relations noting that it is a fact that Zambia has lost her leadership role at both regional and continental levels hence it is imperative that Zambia restores her respectable place in the global village of nations.

Mr. Chanda adds that President Lungu has also been invited to Angola and will be accorded the honour of addressing the Angolan Parliament, a move unprecedented adding that Beyond the Parliamentary address, President Lungu will follow-up on the economic opportunities the two neighbouring countries must explore for mutual benefits.

He further states that President Lungu should be supported that in meeting his Angolan counterpart President José Eduardo Dos Santos, issues related to peace and stability in the region are prioritized, together with exploring opportunities aimed at strengthening bilateral political and economic relations between the countries.
