Chieftainess Waitwika congratulates President Lungu on his victory

Chieftainess Waitwika of the Namwanga people of Nakonde District in Muchinga Province has congratulated President Edgar Lungu on his election as 6th President of Zambia.

 

And Chieftainess Waitwika of the Namwanga people of Nakonde and Chief Katyetye of the Tambo people of Isoka District in Muchinga Province have welcomed the appointment of Joseph Katema as Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Minister taking over from Professor Nkandu Luo.

 

In an interview today at her palace, Chieftainess Waitwika has also sent glowing tribute to the Zambian people for taking part in choosing a leader to take over from the late President Michael Sata who died in London on October 28, 2014.

 

Chieftainess Waitwika said she is confident that President Lungu will take the country to high heights.

 

The traditional leader said Zambia has once again shown the world that it is a beacon of peace by holding peaceful elections that ushered in the 6th President.

 

She has since appealed to President Lungu not to depart from the vision of late President Sata who she described as a patriotic leader who had love for his people regardless of their tribe or belief.

 

The traditional leader said she is happy that President Lungu has assured the country that he will continue to implement the programmes and projects left behind by President Sata.

 

The two chiefs Waitwika and Katyetye have welcomed the appointment of Dr. Katema as Minister of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs.

 

In separate interviews with ZANIS, the two traditional leaders said they are optimistic that Dr. Katema will deliver in his new ministerial position.

 

They said the Ministry of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs is a sensitive ministry that needs a minister who is level headed.

 

President Lungu recently appointed Dr. Katema who is former Information and Broadcasting Minister.
