—Government, through the Department of Community Development has disbursed about K119, 000 to 12 women clubs in Chavuma District of North-western Province.
Chavuma District Community Development Officer, Nancy Chifita Ikowa, said the Women Empowerment Funds disbursed to the 12 clubs are meant to empower women who want to venture in various income generating activities but have no means of doing so.
Mrs Ikowa told ZANIS in Chavuma today that the grants given to various women clubs in the district will enable beneficiaries to uplift their standards of living.
She said most women who have benefited from the Women Empowerment Fund have moved from the poverty level to a more sustainable level where they are able to provide basic necessities for their families.
Mrs Ikowa has since urged all the beneficiaries to put the grants received to good use in order to improve their livelihood.
