—Freedom fighters in Chembe district have congratulated President Edgar Chagwa Lungu on his election as the sixth Zambian President.

Chembe District Freedom fighters’ Association Chairperson, Peter Katube, says the victory of the Patriotic Front has brought so much joy among Zambians with the hope that President Lungu will finish all the projects started by late President Michael Sata.

ZANIS reports that Mr Katube, who was speaking in Chembe, said freedom fighters have since requested President Lungu and his Cabinet to always put the needs of the Zambian people first.

Mr Katube said the promises that were made during the campaign period should not just be mere words but an action that will start being implemented immediately.

The freedom fighter have also praised the President for appointing Ms Inonge Wina as Vice President and urged her not to be intimidated by the male folk in carrying out her national duties.

He said the appointment of a woman to such a position is truly a reflection of the rule of President Sata who appointed the first female Inspector General of Police, Stella Libongani.
