Mixed voter outlook characterises Mkushi district

Voting in Mkushi District begun on a mixed outlook with some polling stations recording high voter turnout and some low between 06:00 hours and 14:00 hours.

According to information obtained from the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Presiding Officer at Chibefwe school polling station in Chibefwe Ward, 405 voters had cast their votes by 14:00 hours out of 1,194 registered voters.

Meanwhile, ECZ officials at Welfare Hall polling station disclosed that 251 voters had cast their votes between 06:00 hours and 14:00 hours.

A check by ZANIS at various polling stations in the district, found that the voting pattern had started on high note at 06:00 hours, then slowed down at midmorning before picking up during mid-day.

ECZ statistics show that Mkushi district has a total of 37,192 registered voters from all the 11 Wards.
