Police recover two missing children
Mansa, September 23, 2014, ZANIS……………..Police in Mansa district have found two out of the three children that went missing in Mushipashi area two weeks ago.
Charity Kalaba 7 , and Elizabeth Mwewa 5 , together with their one –year- nine months old young brother Justine Chilambe all of Matelo Village went missing on 10th September, 2014 between 15:00 hours and 16:30 hours.
Disclosing the matter to ZANIS in Mansa today, Luapula Province Police Commissioner Malcolm Mulenga said Police received a call that two children had been found by a man named Ngandwe who was out on his timber business.
Mr. Mulenga said the children were taken to Matelo Village where they were identified as the missing children.
He said the three children went missing when they were left alone by their parents who had gone to harvest cassava .
Mr. Mulenga said when the parents returned from the field, they discovered that the three children were missing from home.
He said the matter was reported to Police in Mansa and 20 Police officers were assigned to look for the children.
Mr. Mulenga said Police together with local villagers conducted another search in the same area but to no avail.
He said after the children were questioned about the whereabouts of their brother, they could not speak as they seemed to be traumatized.
He said the children have since been admitted to Mansa General Hospital as preliminary investigations show that they were sexually abused and a search for the other missing child is still going on.
