— Govt. commissions township road works in Luanshya

GOVERNMENT has commissioned the rehabilitation exercise of Townships roads in Luanshya’s Roan constituency.

 

Area Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili said the rehabilitation works will cover 14 kilometers of township roads in the constituency and that the project will be done at a cost of over K40 million for both Luanshya central and roan constituencies.

 

Mr. Kambwili stated that the rehabilitation will start with two major roads in Mpatamato and later be extended to other roads in roans and Mpatamato townships.

 

ZANIS reports that the lawmaker , who is also Minister of Youth and Sports, disclosed this in  Luanshya District today.

 

He revealed that his constituency has also been allocated 50 kilometers in the pave Zambia 2000 road project that will begin upon completion of the rehabilitation works.

 

Mr. Kambwili outlined that government attaches great importance to infrastructure development in which roads were a priority saying that by the end of 2019 many of the roads would have been improved.

 

He noted that the PF committed to bringing back the sanity that once existed in townships by improving the road network.

 

Mr. Kambwili observed that the state of the 12 kilometer Roan –Mpatamato road was worked on recently by the Former government was in a bad state and needed urgent attention, adding that a government has engaged a consultant to work out the cost of rehabilitating the starch.

 

He further disclosed that government had approved the construction to bituminous standard, of the Ndeke- Kafubu block road to that would link Luanshya directly to the Ndola –Kapiri road.

 

He said the road works was one of the many campaign promises that government had made to the people which were currently being fulfilled.

 

Meanwhile, Mr. Kambwili yesterday held a rally at Nkulumashiba high school to drum up support for the PF Nkulumashiba Felix Matobwe wards candidate ahead of Luanshya’s August 19th local government elections.

 

The area Mp advised youths to diversify their career opportunities and not depend on the mines, as mining was diminishing resource.

 

He was flanked by Luanshya central MP Stephen Chungu, local government deputy minister Rayford Mbulu who is also Kalulushi MP, former Luanshya mayor Nathan Chanda, Luanshya Deputy Mayor Elizabeth Mulenga among other PF supporters.

 

Luanshya will tomorrow august 19, 2014 hold two local government elections in Nkulumashiba and Buntungwa ward six.
