Man set on fire using tyres by instant justice mob

A man aged between 30-35 years was burnt by an instant justice mob in Lusaka’s Kanyama Township after being suspected to be a criminal, in the early hours of yesterday.
The incident happened around 03:00 hours near Mutandabanthu Market where the man was set ablaze using tyres.
A check at the market around 07:00 hours found the bloody body lying on the street with intestines completely out while the fire had just been put out by the police.
Some witnesses said they heard gun shots around 01:00 hours before being greeted with the news of a burning body around 06:00 hours.
“There was a lot of noise in the night, but I did not know what was going on until in the morning when I saw people gathered,” said Angela Banda one of the residents who was at the scene
