Romanian professional football club from the city of Cluj-Napoca in Transylvania, Romania, are interested in signing out of favour Astra Giurgiu Zambia midfielder Fwayo Tembo during the winter transfer window.
Tembo has been sidelined at Astra after a public fall- out with billionaire owner Loan Niculae, who stated that he would rather play with kids in his team than the Zambia international.
Niculae accused Tembo of having character issues.
CFR Cluj coach Petse Grigoras is impressed with Tembo’s performance at Astra Giurgiu.
According to Romanian media, Cluj are considering making an approach to Astra when the winter window opens in January.
Tembo has also attracted interest from an unnamed Turkish premier league side.
The former Edusport and Zanaco midfielder refused to move to Turkey during the summer transfer window.
CFR Cluj, who have been regular competitors in the UEFA Champions League, are three-time Romanian champions.
Tembo scored three goals in the UEFA Europa League before falling out with the Romanian club, who last month threatened to report him to FIFA for abrogating contractual obligations.
He scored six goals last season to help Astra secure a UEFA Europa League berth.
Astra handed Tembo a lifeline last season after Swiss side FC Basel terminated his contract.
