Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) General Secretary Suzanne Matale says the church is doing its level best to ensure peace and unity prevails in the political arena.

Reverend Matale says this can be seen from church initiatives aimed at encouraging politicians to settle their differences in an amicable manner.

Reverend Matale has revealed that the church has started bringing together Members of Parliament and other senior political party officials from different political parties to try and see how best peace and unity can be promoted in the country.

She adds that there is need to maintain and uphold peace in the country, pointing out that many countries are not enjoying the peace that Zambians are currently enjoying.

Reverend Matale says politicians equally have an obligation to preach peace thus the need for them to find means and ways of reconciling with each other.

She was reacting to the appeal by Chief Government Spokesperson Mwansa Kapeya to the Church to intervene in the ongoing hostilities among politicians in Zambia.
