AN ELEVEN-year-old boy has been hacked to death and his body dumped in a river in Kapiri-Mposhi

The boy, identified as Cosmas Mushimbi of Tazara Township was found floating in Chilekwe River after he went missing on Saturday afternoon.
Central Province police chief Standwell Lungu said the head had deep cuts and that police suspected that he was killed before being dumped in the river.
A postmortem was carried out and burial has since taken place, while investigations in the matter had been launched.
In another development, a Kapiri-Mposhi magistrate’s court has sentenced three youths to five years imprisonment with hard labour for stealing salt from a vehicle.
The three boys of Ndeke Township in Kapiri Mposhi that appeared for plea admitted having stolen 5×50 kilogramme bags of salt but asked for lenience.
Pepala Malupande and Derrick Mukosha both aged 24 and Gibek Kunda, 27, were convicted of one count of theft.
Particulars of the offence were that the three between September 18 and September 19, this year stole the bags of salt belonging to Chaida Logistics which was on a Scania truck registration number ALE 5889.
Magistrate Ackson Mumba convicted the three upon their own admission and sentenced them to five years imprisonment with hard labour.
