11000 youths to participate 2013 Airtel Rising Stars tournament

 

Lusaka, July 12, 2013, ZANIS….Over 11000 youths will be expected to  participate in this year’s Youth Football tournament for 2013 Airtel Rising Stars tournament in the country.

 

And FAZ Spokesperson Eric Mwanza said the tournament is an important one which is going to help identify talent in young people.

 

 

Vice President for Communication Michael Okwiri said the country’s youth football development tournament is set to be the biggest this year.

 

 

 

ZANIS sports reports that Okwiri said this in a  statement in Lusaka.

 

 

He said  that as  over 11,000 young people are set to register for the selection trials which get underway at the end of the ongoing  2013 Cosafa Cup championship.

 

 

 

“  Rising Stars championship has over the last two years established itself as the flagship of Zambian football development as thousands of junior players have enjoyed an unparalleled platform to exhibit talent and stand a chance of being co-opted into the various national teams, ‘ he said in the statement..

 

 

He stated that with over 11,000 forms distributed countrywide FAZ and Airtel have expressed confidence that the 2013 edition will be the best and biggest since the championship was incepted in 2011.

 

 

 

And FAZ Spokesperson Eric Mwanza said the tournament is an important one which is going to help identify talent in young people.

 

 

"We are excited with the wonderful response that the 2013 championship has received. The overwhelming response is a clear manifestation of the popularity of the tournament and what it represents to the future of Zambian football," said  Mwanza .

 

 

 

He said the future of Zambian football is with young people saying huge investment at this level is securing the nation’s  football future.
