Siavonga mounts refuse campaign
Siavonga, June 11, 2013, ZANIS—Siavonga district council will soon construct new refuse bays and improve performance in solid waste management and garbage collection.
Siavonga council secretary Venture Kafula said in an interview with ZANIS today that there was need for the local authority to construct new refuse bays and start collecting garbage.
Mr. Kafula says the council will mount collection points for refuse in identified central locations.
And Mr. Kafula added that said council was faced with a number of challenges such as failure to collect garbage on planned days due to the constant breakdown of the only truck for refuse collection.
The council secretary however said the local authority had procured a light truck meant for garbage collection which was expected to arrive in the district this week.
Meanwhile Mr. Kafula urged council workers to be committed to their work for the local authority to effectively provide a service to the people.
Mr Kafula also called on workers to set a trend in attitude change at the work place in order change the bad perception people have about the council.
