Kabwe joins Uhuru celebrations
Kabwe, 25 May,2013,ZANIS—Kabwe residents today joined the rest of the country and the African continent to commemorate Africa Freedom Day which falls on 25th May.
The occasion was graced by central province permanent secretary Anne Sinyangwe who led members of the provincial joint operations committee, Kabwe High Court Judge Elita Mwikisa and freedom fighters, in laying wreaths at the Cenotaph.
The occasion to commemorate Africa’s freedom and the fallen heroes was branded with solemn music and gun salutes by the Zambia Army brass band.
Zambia Army defence force chaplains read the Bible and prayed before the wreaths were laid.
This year’s Africa Freedom Day also marks the Golden Jubilee of the founding of the Organisation of African Unity, now African Union which is being celebrated by African Heads of States including President Michael Sata in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
