Increase of Diabetes and Cervical cancer cases worries parliamentarians

Mongu, May 11, ZANIS ——- The Parliamentary Committee on Health has expressed worry at the increase in number of diabetes and cervical cancer cases in the country.

Parliamentary Committee Chairperson on Health and Mumbwa Area Member of Parliament Brian Chituwo said this when his entourage paying a courtesy call on Western Province Permanent Secretary Emmanuel Mwamba this morning.

Dr Chituwo explained that it is the duty of the committee to visit health institutions to see if the facilities there are able to combat the increase of these diseases.

He said the health sector has made strides pointing out the surpassing of the Abuja target.

Meanwhile Western Province Permanent Secretary Emmanuel Mwamba noted that government will continue to put issues of the health sector as a priority.

Mr Mwamba said the construction of the 62 health institutions will help in boosting the provision of health services to the people.

He stressed that a proactive government will be seen through the tackling of health issues with proper rationale.

Among The Parliamentarians committee of health on this tour are Dr Brian Chituwo, Mr Cornelious Mweetwa, Mr Munji Habenzu, Mr Chifita Matafwali and Mr Likando Mufalali.

The team has already toured Kaoma and they are in Mongu where they are expected to proceed to Senanga district respectively.
