—-Lusaka Province Minister, Freedom Sikazwe, has called on all heads of departments to be proactive in the execution of their duties.
Mr Sikazwe says there is need for civil servants to perform to the best of their ability because their positions require them to do so.
The Provincial Minister said this in Lusaka last evening during the Labour Day prize giving ceremony for members of staff at the provincial administration.
Mr Sikazwe said the era where people needed to be pushed in order to do work is long gone and must not be embraced.
He added that as long as workers have accepted to be employed by government, it is important that they use their positions to develop the province.
Mr Sikazwe said he was aware of the challenges that people in his province were going through, but that they should not demotivate.
He further appealed to all heads of departments to avail their challenges to the office of the Permanent Secretary.
Mr Sikazwe said if heads of department do not avail their challenges it would be difficult for the province to continue performing.
He said those that received awards should not relax but continue to work hard for the development of the nation while those that did not received any award this year should not be discouraged to work hard.
