Heavy downpour damages classrooms in Mungwi District

Mungwi, March 20, 2012, ZANIS – A heavy downpour on Monday left one classroom at Musondo School destroyed forcing teachers to conduct classes in houses.

And Mungwi District Commissioner Joyce Chanda has described the development as unfortunate .

Mrs. Chanda who  toured the school yesterday promised the community that the district administration would look in to the matter seriously and ensure that learning normalised at the
institution.

The DC who was in the company of the district administrative officer Mwape Mumbi, assured the Musonda community that government would provide permanent infrastructure at the institution as opposed to decrepit structures that could not withstand extreme climatic conditions.

In another development, Mungwi District Commissioner Joyce Chanda has revealed that government has allocated a total of 10 clinics to be constructed in the various wards of the district.

Mrs. Chanda said Ward Councilors in respective wards have since been instructed to liaise with members of the community and come up with sites for the construction of the said clinics.

She said out of the 13 wards in the district only 3 may be without a clinic nearby this year but she assured the community that more clinics would be allocated by government to improve access to primary health care.
