Chipata Man, 69, killed by bandits

Chipata, March 15, 2013, ZANIS…..A 69 year old man of Chipata was found dead in the early hours of yesterday along Mwami road.

 

The deceased who has been identified as Peter Mwale of  chief Kapatamoyo worked as a security guard at a place called Ataf plot where he

is suspected to have been murdered by unknown people in the early hours of yesterday.

 

Eastern province deputy commissioner of police Alfred Nawa confirmed the development to ZANIS in Chipata today.

 

Mr Nawa said the deceased sustained deep cuts on the head which were believed to have been caused by sharp objects.

 

Mr Nawa said the workmate of the deceased Dama Phiri reported the matter to the police but no arrests have been made so far.

 

And in another development, a 36 year old man of Kapata compound in Chipata district was yesterday attacked by unknown people around 03:00 hours in the morning and the attackers went away with KR 4,720.

 

The victim identified as Rabison Ngoma sustained injuries on the head and right hand after he was attacked by six unknown people who were armed with stones.

 

And in another development Police say a 33 year old man of Malawi died in a Chipata bound bus near Luangwa due to illness.

 

The deceased only known as Luka was accompanied by his wife and died on the Zambia-Malawi bus enroute to Malawi for treatment.

 

Mr Nawa said the deceased who is a Malawian was residing in John Laing compound in Lusaka died around 09 hours near Luangwa district and the body was taken to Nyimba Hospital mortuary.

 Mr Nawa said the body of the deceased has since been taken to Malawi by his relatives for burial.
