Clergyman commends government

Luwingu, February 20, ZANIS ——–A Catholic Parish Priest in Luwingu has praised government for the provision of piped water to the community in Ipusukilo area.

Speaking when Northern Provincial Minister Gerry Chanda and his delegation toured Ipusukilo on Friday Christopher Paisoni said the community in the area is happy for the provision of quality piped water.

Fr Paisoni urged the minister to convey the message to President Michael Sata for the quality piped water he has helped the people of Ipusukilo area.

The Catholic Priest has also thanked the PF government for honouring its campaign promise of putting up a hydro power project in the area which he noted to be in process as the contractor is on site.

Fr Paisoni has however appealed to government for K15 000 to enable the community meet the maintenance costs of running the equipment and sustain the water that has been provided to them.

He has also called on government to improve road network which he said is in deplorable state causing delays in development activities for the area.

Fr Paisoni further requested government to send more medical personnel to man Ipusukilo clinic which he noted required extra manpower for it to operate effectively.

In response to Fr Paisoni’s concerns Col Chanda said government enjoys working with the church as it has been a strong partner in national development.

He said the church has partnered with government in the provision of effective public services jn education and health sectors.

Col Chanda urged the church never to relent in supplementing government’s efforts in the provision of services to the people in the nation.

He added that President Sata needs the church to keep praying for him as he has a heart for church activities that he finds time to participate despite busy schedules.
