Chief Chikupili dies


Kapiri Mposhi, February 13, ZANIS —– Chief Chikupili of the Swaka speaking people in Mkushi district has died.


The chief who was 90 years old died on Sunday after an illness.


Family spokesperson, Chief Mukonchi of the Swaka people in Kapiri Mposhi district confirmed the death of Chief Chikupili to ZANIS today.


Chief Mukonchi said the chief had been admitted to Mkushi district hospital for some time now where he died Sunday.


The traditional leader told ZANIS that the burial for the late chief will take place on Friday at his palace.


Chief Mukonchi said the Swaka Royal Establishment in Central Province had lost a knowledgeable person in Chief Chikupili whom they depended on for advice.


Chief Chikupili ascended to the throne in 1950.
