Printing Press construction on course

Kasama, February 7, ZANIS ——The construction of a Printing Press at Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) offices in Kasama in Northern Province estimated to cost KR950, 000 is progressing well.

And Kasama District Commissioner Kalanga Bwalya has commended Jonko Construction Company for the works done so far.

Mr Bwalya said this when he inspected the construction site in Kasama today.

He said Jonko Construction Company deserves to be commended as they have done so much work within a short period.

The District Commissioner has since urged local contractors to emulate Jonko Construction Company that has exhibited a spirit of dedication and hard work.

Mr Bwalya said if many local contractors can finish their contracts on the stipulated time, there would be no need for government to engage foreign contractors to do Zambian works.

And Jonko Construction Company Manager Joseph Nkonde has appealed to government to quickly release funds that are meant for the construction of the Printing Press.

Mr Nkonde revealed that the company has used its resources to construct the building and has been waiting for the payments.

He noted that though 85 percent of the building has been completed, delayed funding will delay the completion of the project and demoralize the workers.

Recently government awarded Jonko Construction Company the tender to construct a Printing Press at a cost of KR950 000 at ZANIS offices in Kasama.
