Serenje receives ballot papers

Ballot papers for next week’s Presidential election have started arriving in Serenje district in the Central province.

Serenje District Electoral officer Kennedy Kazanda has confirmed the development to ZANIS today.

Mr Kazanda said the first batch of ballot papers for Chisomo, Kabansa, Chimbaya, and Kaombe which are inaccessible by road  arrived yesterday .

Mr Kazanda said the delivery of the ballot papers was witnessed by the District returning officer officer Joseph Zyambo, Serenje Police station officer-in -charge Hellario Zozi and the district Assistant returning officer Francis Mpiana.

Mr Kazanda said the ballot papers for the other  hard to reach areas will be dispatched by the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) choppers organized by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ).

The District Electoral officer said the area  will start receiving ballot papers for the rest of the district today.

He further said all the ballot papers were expected to be in the district by Monday in readiness for dispatch to all the polling stations in the district.

Mr Kazanda said ECZ had transport available to distribute the ballot papers and was ready for the task.
