Nakonde taxi driver murdered

Nakonde, September 2, 2014, ZANIS…A taxi driver of Nakonde has been brutally murdered by unknown people that had hired him and later stole his vehicle.

Police in Nakonde have confirmed the murder of 23 year-old Shadreck Sinkala who was allegedly murdered by four men.

Muchinga province deputy Police Commissioner Bonny Kapeso told ZANIS in an interview in Nakonde today that the unregistered vehicle that Sinkala was driving had also been stolen by his assailants.

Mr. Kapeso said Sinkala was a resident  of Nyondo Village in Chieftainess Waitwika’s chiefdom in Nakonde district.

Mr. Kapeso said Sinkala was booked to unknown destination by four men who later killed him by strangling him to death using a sisal rope which was tied to a tree.

The four suspects include two Zambians and two Tanzanian nationals later took the vehicle into Tunduma after putting a fake Zambian number plate taken from one of the vehicles belonging to one of the four robbers.

Mr. Kapeso said the four men were later intercepted by the Tanzanian police after they attempted to sale the vehicle in that country.

Mr Kapeso also added that the four have since been brought back to Zambia to stand trial on aggravated robbery and murder.

He said that the quartet is currently detained at Nakonde police station and will appear in court soon.

Meanwhile, Mr Kapeso disclosed that Sinkala was buried at Katozi cemetery in Nakonde yesterday.
