Filing of nominations by candidates vying for the Solwezi Central seat started on a bad note for opposition National Restoration Party (NAREP) candidate who failed to show up to file his papers today.
The NAREP candidate was scheduled to be the first aspiring candidate to file in his nomination papers at 09:00 hours today.
However, the United National Independent Party (UNIP) candidate Mary Katiki managed to file in her papers at 10 hours.
At 11 hours, Patriotic Front Milton Malwa was the third person to file his papers at the Solwezi Civic Centre.
By 12 hours, the United Party for National Development (UPND) had not yet settled for any candidates as two aspiring candidates showed up with adoption certificates to file in their nominations persons.
Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) officials sent back the two, Dawson Kafwaya and former area Member of Parliament Watson Lumbe and advised the UPND leadership to put their house in order before their candidate would be allowed to file in the nominations.
Those expected to also file in their papers are candidates for the opposition Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) and Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD).
