Police in Western Province have arrested a 21 year old man for allegedly murdering his 75 year old father.
The incident occurred on April 5th 2013 around 19:00 hours in Mooyo area of Senanga district.
This is contained in a statement made available to ZANIS by Police Assistant Public Relations Officer Rea Hamoonga.
The suspect has since been identified as Emmanuel Kahilu while the deceased has been identified as Bolen Chilundu both from the same village.
It is alleged that the suspect accused his father of practising witchcraft after all his six siblings died, leaving him as the only survivor in a family of seven.
It is alleged that the accused then got an axe and killed his father.
Kahilu has since been arrested and charged with murder contrary to Section 200 of the Penal Code of the Laws of Zambia and will appear in court soon.
And in Eastern Province, a 34 year old cyclist died on the spot after being hit by a motor vehicle registration number ALG 8964.
The accident occurred around 11:00 hours yesterday along the Great East Road at Kabumba area in Nyimba district.
The driver of the vehicle has since been identified as Eya Mushunga aged 34 while the deceased has been identified as Kennedy Sakala also aged 34.
The driver escaped unhurt and has since been charged with causing death by dangerous driving contrary to Section 161 of the Road Traffic Act Number 11 of 2002 and will appear in court soon.
