Mongu/Kalabo road to cost KR13 billion

—–The Road Development Agency (RDA) has disclosed that the contractual works of the 34 km Mongu-Kalabo road will cost KR 13 billion.


RDA Public Relations Senior Manager, Loyce Saili, says so far, 19 km of road embankment has been constructed on the high way.


Ms Saili added that four bridges out of the targeted 25 are under construction.


She told ZANIS in a press statement in Lusaka that pilling for 21 bridges has started.


Ms Saili further namedof the contractor engaged to construct the 34 km of the Mongu- Kalabo road from Mongu to Tapo as Avic International Holding Corporation.


She has, however, said the construction works are going on well adding that there has not been any challenge so far.


The Mongu-Kalabo road will connect Zambia to Angola once the Kalabo- Sikongo road is also constructed.


This link will facilitate trade between the two countries.


The Kalabo- Mongu- Sikongo road is part of the lager Lobito corridor.
