–Youths in Mkushi District have been advised to utilize skilled expertise when preparing project proposal documents in order to access Youth Development Fund (YDF).

Mkushi District Commissioner (DC), Christopher Chibuye, told ZANIS today that there was need for youths to use resource mobilization experts in the course of writing project proposals.

Mr Chibuye insisted that there was need for youth groups to take this advice seriously, explaining that most of the project proposals submitted by youths last year were poorly done.

The DC said the advice was timely as the district had received the forms to be used by youth group applicants, adding that there was need for youths to submit better project proposals when applying for this year’s funding.

He said only four youth groups in Mkushi had accessed the funding out of many applications, adding that this indicated that most of proposals had been rejected for having been done poorly.

Mr Chibuye also said there was need for youths to scale up in adding variety as well as creativity to their project aspirations.

He bemoaned what he termed as the common trend in which most youth groups applied for ventures such as hammer mill.

The DC said there was need for youth groups to pursue projects that are unique, adding that such a development would help to add variety to the composition of commercial entities of Mkushi.

Mr Chibuye reaffirmed government’s commitment towards bettering the plight of youths in the district, saying this was evidenced by the annual disbursements of initiatives such as the Youth Development Fund.

He further assured youths that he would disclose the YDF funding amount that is to be allocated to Mkushi for this year, adding that the data would be revealed at the Provincial Development Coordinating Committee meeting in Kabwe next week.
