Party cadres urged to exercise peaceful campaigns
Shiwang`andu, January 5, 2015. ZANIS — Concerned voters in Shiwang`andu district have called for peaceful campaigns ahead of the January 20th, 2015 Presidential By- elections.
Speaking on behalf of electorates in an interview with ZANIS in the district today Loveness Nachilima said that party cadres should not intervene when other political parties are having meetings.
Ms. Nachilima said that all political parties have the right to hold rallies as long as they have a police permit.
She added that if some political parties are not holding rallies in fear of being interrogated by other party cadres, electorates will not
be fully informed hence making electorates have difficulties in making informed decisions.
Ms. Nachilima said this following political wrangles between opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) and the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) cadres last Friday.
However Ms. Nachilima said that Shiwang`andu residents are very peaceful people, hence political parties should feel free to hold rallies in the district.
Ms. Nachilima said that the people of Shiwang`andu want to vote for a political party that exercises maximum peace in their dealings.
On Friday UPND rally which was to be officiated by Maureen Mwanawasa failed to take off in Shiwang`andu district after a disturbance by PF cadres.
