—An identified man died on the spot after a vehicle hit him at Chambeshi market in Kasama yesterday.
Northern Province Police Commissioner Mary Chikwanda confirmed the accident.
Ms Chikwanda told ZANIS that a Mitsubishi, Canter registration number ALB 9697, hit the man around 16:30 hours who later died at Kasama General Hospital.
She said the driver of the vehicle, Benson Phiri, 56, of Mulenga Hills of Kasama, has been arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
Meanwhile, the Northern Police Chief has appealed to the public who are missing a relative or friend to contact the police so that they could assist in identifying the body.
Ms Chikwanda said the body of the deceased is lying in Kasama General Hospital Mortuary waiting identification and burial.
