Zambia striker Emmanuel Mayuka is in line to make his French Ligue 2 debut for Metz in Friday’s away match at Laval.

The 24-year-old 2012 Africa Cup-winning striker joined Metz on the deadline of the 2015 summer transfer window for an undisclosed fee from English Premiership club Southampton.

“Emmanuel Mayuka has now qualified to play and he will be able to travel to Laval on Friday should the technical staff need him,” Metz stated on the club’s official website.

Mayuka is hoping to resuscitate his career across the English channel after making just 16 Premiership appearances and scoring no league goals following his €4-million move from Swiss club Young Boys in 2012.

The striker was also not picked by Zambia coach George Lwandamina for last weekend’s 2017 Africa Cup Group E qualifier away to Kenya following a six-month injury layoff that saw him miss the latter part of the 2014/2015 season at Southampton.

This will be Mayuka’s second stint in France after spending a the 2013/2014 season on loan at Sochaux where he scored four goals in 21 appearances.

Meanwhile, Metz are currently top of Ligue 2 after five rounds of matches played on 13 points ahead of their trip to fourth placed Laval.
