President Edgar Lungu has officially commissioned the $2.1 billion Sentinel Copper Mine in Solwezi.

The President has also created two more districts in North-Western Province.

 

President Lungu told journalists after touring the Trident Projects in Solwezi District that the creation of Kalumbila and Mushindano Districts will help spur development in the province.

The President said Solwezi West will now be called Kalumbila District while Solwezi East is now Mushindano district.

 

 

Meanwhile President Lungu said his government will do everything possible to support and protect investments in the country.

And First Quantum Assistant Manager, Tristan Pascall said his company will continue with its investment despite the challenges it is facing.

 

Mr. Pascall said his company in collaboration with Zesco is currently working on a 6 hundred kilometers power line project that will connect the whole North western province by September 12 among other projects.

He said his company has so far spent 20 million US dollar on community projects.
