UGANDAN President Yoweri Museveni has invited President Lungu for a state visit.
President Lungu held two bilateral meetings with Mr Museveni.
The first meeting was on Monday and the second was held on Tuesday.
Mr Chanda said the President will use the state visit to Uganda to discuss how the two countries can work together to deal with conflict in the Great Lakes region, particularly South Sudan.
“The President has since directed Minister of Foreign Affairs Harry Kalaba to travel to Uganda within the next two weeks to prepare for the visit and also to look at the contentious issues causing trouble in South Sudan,” Mr Chanda said.
President Lungu was invited to join the South Sudan peace process by that country’s President Salva Kiir and rebel leader Riek Machar on the sidelines of the African Union summit early this year.
President Lungu returns home today.
Mr Lungu was in China for a state visit at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. He also attended and addressed the Boao Forum for Asia 2015 annual conference.
