Patriotic Front (PF) cadres this morning protested against Kazungula District Council by locking up the main entrance at the reception.

The situation caused panic among some council employees who were found cleaning the premises and later disappeared for fear of being harassed by the unruly cadres.

According to sources within the council, the cadres arrived at the council as early as 05:00 hours to block the council workers from performing their duties today.

Sources said the cadres are demanding for the removal of the Council Secretary, Winston Kasonkomona and his Director of Works Mwashya Musonda.

PF cadres in the area have accused the duo of having failed to bring the needed development in Kazungula district.

A check by ZANIS at the council this morning found a heavy presence of police officers, some from Livingstone district and no council employee was seen while offices remained closed.

Efforts to get a comment from the Council Secretary proved futile as his phone remained switched off.
