Issues affecting children need coordination – Shiliya

Mwense, February 16th, 2015, ZANIS ——     A civic organization in Luapula province has requested
stakeholders in Mwense district to coordinate and work together with the private sector in addressing issues concerning children.

Save the children Zambia Rising Project (ZR) Monitoring and Evaluation advisor Nicholas Shiliya  says there is need to strengthen the existing systems  if the quality of Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs)
were to be improved..

Mr. Shiliya said issues affecting children need concerted efforts from all cooperating partners adding  that a nation without a proper guided and supported children is doomed.

The Zambia Rising Project (ZR) Monitoring and Evaluation advisor made the request during a Joint multi-sectorial District Planning and child protection committee meeting held at grand
palm lodge.

He called for the formation of a child protection committee at district level as a sub – committee for the District Development Coordinating Committee (DDCC) so that children’s issues can adequately
be represented.

And speaking during the official opening of the meeting, Acting District Commissioner (DC) Benson Matipa appealed to the stakeholders to deliberate and fully implement the resolutions of the meeting.

Mr. Matipa said lack of coordination from various stakeholders has resulted into the wastage of resources because they end up spending on the same projects.
