—————-The Workers’ Compensation Control Board has embarked on a Keep Safety in Mind Campaign (KSIMC) project aimed at reducing accidents and diseases in Zambia.

Workers’ Compensation Corporate Affairs and Customer Service Manager Maybin Nkholomba told ZANIS in an interview in Ndola today that the KSIMC will be launched this year.

Mr. Nkolomba explained that the project aims to improve work culture and reduce accidents especially in places like mines.

He added that about 1,200 accidents occur every year in various companies especially those in industrial areas.

‘’ We will visit different work sites to carry out inspections and access working environments people operate under,’’ Mr Nkholomba said.

He noted that the major culprits within the mines are contractors because they are well trained but lack knowledge on matters relating to health.

Mr Nkholomba noted that the project will avail employers on how to set up health precautions in order to reduce accidents and diseases in work places.
