Earth Tremor ‘ shocks ‘ Mansa district
Mansa, November 3, 2014, ZANIS —- An earth tremor last evening in Mansa district sent unsuspecting residents in panic for safety.
The tremor which happened around 20:26 hours for over 30 seconds shook the entire district.
ZANIS reports that there was however no lives lost or property damaged from the tremor.
And Provincial Meteorological Officer Christopher Kafula when contacted for comment confirmed the tremor but said his office was unable to detect the effect of the tremor.
He added that it was difficult for his office to get the exact cause of the tremor as it has no equipment to do so.
Mr. Kafula said that it is not the first time that the province experienced such could have caused the tremor.
Mr. Kafula has since appealed to the Geological Survey to help them build the Seismic Station as it is an instrument which will help with information of recording, direction and intensity of earth movement.
