Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) president Edith Nawakwi has observed that women in Zambia are far from attaining economic and social justice.

Ms Nawakwi has told Qfm news in an interview that this is evident from the high number of women who are still wallowing in abject poverty fifty years after independence.

She says there is need for government and other stakeholders to pay attention to the many challenges affecting women in the country.

Ms Nawakwi says government should focus on addressing high poverty levels and challenges in the heath sector as a way of responding to the challenges facing the majority of women in the country.

The FDD leader states that women are the mothers of any nation hence the need to safeguard their rights.
