Veteran  politicians urged to guide youths

Kalabo ,October 9,2014,  ZANIS……..Veteran politicians have been implored to share good leadership qualities on development  with the young generation as the country celebrates its golden jubilee of independence.

Former Anti Voter Apathy Project (AVAP) executive director who is also Patriotic Front (PF) political advisor Bonnie Tembo told ZANIS in Kalabo today that senior politicians should be seen as good examples of selfless leaders and not people that were just in politics to enrich themselves.

Mr Tembo noted that some senior politicians were not pursuing politics of service and development but instead are busy boasting about the years of benefitting from politics.

“ Youths want to know what is there for them in politics, politics should be seen to be serving the interest of people and not individuals enriching themselves and boasting of  the years of eating well in politics,’ Mr Tembo said.

He further implored the youths to emulate the leadership qualities of First Republican President Kenneth Kaunda and the incumbent President Michael Sata whose leadership is pro-poor centred.

Mr Tembo noted that it was important for senior politicians to seriously consider incorporating youths in everything they do so they could be groomed into better leaders whose aim would be to develop the nation in the next 50 years.
