Nchelenge, June 30th, 2014, ZANIS —- Government has released K320, 180 under the Social Cash Transfer (SCT) to Nchelenge District in Luapula Province.
The District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Michael Mwape said the money is meant for poverty mitigation among the vulnerable households in the area.
Mr. Mwape said the money that has been received is for the months of June and July, 2014 to cushion the rampant poverty of the vulnerable households.
He said so far his office has received the final list of beneficiaries and that 2, 287 households will benefit from the bi-monthly allocations.
ZANIS reports that the District Social Welfare Officer said this in an interview in Nchelenge District, today.
Mr. Mwape said the money is already in the account and that his office awaits for instructions from the higher authorities to start the payments.
The DSWO said the PF government has demonstrated that it remains committed to fulfil its 2011 campaign promises of liberating the rural people from abject poverty.
Mr. Mwape urged the recipients of the money to put it to good use and better their lives and warned that any abuse would result into the withdrawn of the support.
