Education Minister, John Phiri, has called on public service workers and other workers from private and parastatal institutions to trust the government.

Dr Phiri said this is because the government is committed to improving workers’ conditions across the country.

He said his government is the most worker friendly government among the preceding ones.

The Minister said this during the Labour Day celebrations held at Godfrey Chitalu Stadium in Kabwe yesterday.

And Dr Phiri has retaliated government’s commitment to the reformation of the labour laws.

He said this can be evidenced by the many interventions the government has made in the employment sector.

Dr Phiri said for the first time in Zambia, the lowest paid civil servant was getting K3000.00, which he said was a great achievement in the civil service.

He however said government has not forgotten about the high unemployment levels in the country, especially among the youths.

The Minister disclosed that in Central Province, interventions are being made to open up KIFICO and Mulungushi Textiles Companies.

Dr Phiri has since appealed to workers to remain patient and supportive to the government of the day.
