ZAWA nabs poacher in Namwala

The Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) in Namwala District yesterday apprehended a man of unknown age of Itezhi tezhi district of Chief Shimbinzi for being found in possession of 37 pieces of dried warthog and Sable meat.

Sources at ZAWA Namwala offices confirmed the matter to ZANIS but referred all queries to ZAWA management in Chilung District.

The sources said that the suspect was apprehended in Newalla district at Niko area after Zawa was tipped that a person had some government trophy and was on a Kapena bus enroute to Lusaka.

The suspect was arrested by alert police and ZAWA officers after being alerted by the general concerned members of the general public to be on the look out of a person aboard a passenger bus near Namimwe area who was suspected to be carrying some government trophy the laws of Zambia.

The suspect who was identified as Dario us Sikasilika of Shaimainda village in Itezhi tezhi district is currently in custody and will soon appear before Namwala magistrate court.
