Quintuplets mother loses second baby

Another of the quintuplets (five babies) delivered by a 38 year old mother  of Libonda village in Kalabo district has died .

The baby died in Lewanika General Hospital yesterday making it the second of the five premature babies to die.

Lewanika General Hospital Administrator Mbeha Akabondo told ZANIS in an interview in Mongu that  the condition of the mother identified as Inutu Wasamunu and the surviving three babies was stable.

Mr. Akabondo explained that the babies who weighed between 1 kilogram and 1.25 kilograms were born on 18th March 2014 in a normal birth at Libonda rural health center.

He said the mother and quadruplets were transferred to Lewanika General Hospital on Thursday 20th March 2014 from Libonda rural health centre .

Mr Akabondo noted that the quintuplets were born prematurely at seven months and that the hospital was making efforts to ensure that they received good care. 

And the mother, Inutu Wasamunu has called on Government to assist her in fending for the children as it was a huge burden.

Ms Wasamunu who has four other children who are a set of twins, told ZANIS  in Mongu that she needs assistance to look after the children.
